All Murray’s Chickens are fed a diet consisting primarily of corn and soybean meal. The overwhelming majority of corn and soybean meal grown in the United States come from seeds which have been genetically modified to ensure certain attributes. These genetically modified organisms (GMO’s) are found throughout the American food chain. While Murray’s Chickens are Certified Humane, antibiotic-free and vegetarian fed, we do not claim that the corn and soybean meal comprising the birds’ diet is free of GMO’s.
In an effort to meet the growing demand for food free of genetically modified organisms, Murray’s introduced our line of non-GMO Project Verified fresh chicken. These birds are raised on feed comprised of corn and soybean meal that is guaranteed not to come from any genetically modified seeds (i.e., non-GMO feed). The non-GMO Project is the leading third party organization whose sole purpose is to guarantee that foods are free of genetically modified organisms.
Look for the non-GMO Project Verified logo, and the Murray’s yellow packaging, to be certain that your chicken has never been fed GMO’s.

What is Eco-Packaging?
At Murray’s we take the same care of our world as we do of our chickens. Sustainable business practices help minimize our impact on the environment. The bottom line is no junk: We don’t put it in our products and we don’t leave it in our path.
Our new minimum-impact packaging helps us further limit our ecological footprint. The single material packaging is friendlier for the environment than a non-recyclable foam tray. Freshness and taste are sealed in a sturdy sleeve that is freezer-safe. This means no additional waste and also eliminates the risk of contamination through transferring to freezer bags. Please note that several retailers package our chickens at their store in their own packaging, therefore, our eco packaging claims are not valid for those stores.
Do you add pump to your products?
No. There is absolutely no pump added to our products ever.
Do you add melamine to your chickens’ feed?
We do not, nor did we ever, add melamine to our feed.
Do you add arsenic to your chickens’ feed?
We do not, nor did we ever, add arsenic to our feed.
Do you give your chickens growth hormones?
Added hormones have not been used anywhere in the poultry industry for over 35 years. The federal government forbids the use of artificial hormones in chicken. You will notice that some poultry companies like to brag about how they do not provide their birds with additional hormones . . . This boast is truly much ado about nothing and only indicates that the processor is complying with the law.
Do you give your chickens antibiotics?
We do not give our chickens antibiotics ever, from breeder to egg to table.
What does it mean that your chickens are Certified Humane?
Humane Farm Animal Care (HFAC) is the leading non-profit certification organization dedicated to improving the lives of farm animals in food production from birth through slaughter. The goal of the program is to improve the lives of farm animals by driving consumer demand for kinder and more responsible farm animal practices. When you see the Certified Humane Raised and Handled® label on a product you can be assured that the food products have come from facilities that meet precise, objective standards for farm animal treatment.
To guarantee that our chickens lead healthy, happy lives from birth to slaughter, HFAC oversees the entire process and routinely audits our farms, feed mill and processing facility. For more information about Certified Humane, visit www.certifiedhumane.org.
What is farm-to-table traceability?
Our packages tell you exactly where your chicken came from, so there’s never any guesswork. Our retail packaged products all come with a farm verification code which identifies the production date that product was made. By entering the farm verification code in the search portal of our site, you can meet and visit the farm(s) that raised the chickens that we processed on that production date.
